Jubilee conference celebrating the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences in Cracow. Conference sessions included: "Equilibrium or threats?", on the topic of post-war European history and social issues; "Climate, nature and man in the Anthropocene", about the climate crisis; "150 years of modern medicine", on contemporary challenges within the medical field' and "Real and virtual reality, artificial intelligence", about new technologies in the context of the development of AI.

For the fifth edition of Polish National reading day, Polish Library volunteers and students and teachers from the Nicolaus Copernicus Polish School took part in a collective reading of the poetry of Adam Mickiewicz. Students of the John Paul II Polish school in the West Island joined by Zoom. Organizers: the Polish Library and the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Montreal.

KinoPolska Québec Film Series at Cinémathèque: Journeys

On Saturday August 3rd from 3pm-6pm, the first edition of the KinoPolska film series will showcase two films by Polish-Quebec filmmakers: "Ojcu" (To My Father) by Liliana Komorowska and Diana Skaya, and "Memory Is Our Homeland" by Jonathan Kolodziej Durand. The screening will be followed by a discussion with the filmmakers. The event is organized by Polski Piknik and the Polish Institute.

Concert "Hommage à Penderecki"

This concert, performed by Orchestre21 and soloist Justyna Gabzdyl, is in honor of 100 years of Polish independence and the 85th birthday of the Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki. Maestro Paollo Bellomia will showcase the results of his research at Université de Montréal: a system of sensors that allows for the creation of live projections based on the conductor's movements. International symposium on the life of Tadeusz Romer

On the centenary of Poland's independence, the Polish Institute is organizing an international conference about the life and work of Tadeusz Romer. The conference, organized in collaboration with McGill University's Department of History and Classical Studies, will consist of talks by historians, archivists, and scholars from Canada, Poland, Japan, and the United States. McGill Faculty Club (3451 McTavish), starting at 9PM.
An introductory meeting will also take place on Sunday, October 21st at 5PM, at the Polish Institute (4220, rue Drolet).
National reading: "The Coming Spring"

Teachers and students from Montreal's Polish schools and members of local Polish theatre groups will stage a Montreal edition of Polish Reading Day, taking turns to read the 1924 classic "Przedwiosnie" (trans. "The Coming Spring") by Stefan Zeromski in its entirety. Polish Institute (4220, rue Drolet), starting at 8AM. There will be a screening of the 2001 film version at 7PM.
